I’m teaching AI Enabled Creative at Hyper Island at the moment, and today we had Tomas Seo as a guest lecturer.
One thing he said stuck with me:
Don’t be logical. Be weird and unexpected.
His point was that AI models are incredibly good at the statistical. They know what usually comes next. They can give us the logical answer, the expected image, the reasonable solution.
Which means our job as humans becomes something else.
To choose. To question. To take things in an unexpected direction.
The more capable the models become, the easier it is to simply accept what they give us. And if everyone is working with the same models, trained on the same enormous pools of existing material, how do we make sure everything doesn’t start looking and sounding the same?
Maybe part of the answer is that we need to get much better at making choices — and understanding why we make them.
And I think the same thing applies when building an AI product.
At Upbeater, we can make assumptions about how people want to work with Marketing Maggie or Sales Sara. We can design workflows that seem perfectly logical to us.
But logical isn’t necessarily the same as useful.
We need real businesses using them in real work, questioning things and telling us: this works, this doesn’t, why does it do that, I wish it could do this instead.
That’s why we’re now looking for The Founding 15 — a small group of businesses who will be the first to work with the new Upbeater platform and help us shape what comes next.
Maybe your marketing is already working, but too much of your time still goes into keeping the everyday content moving. Maybe sales outreach needs more consistency without becoming another thing your team has to manage.
You bring the real need; Marketing Maggie or Sales Sara becomes part of how you solve it.
As one of The Founding 15, you’ll get early access to the platform, a direct line to us and 50% off our Standard package for your first three months. And we’ll work closely with you to understand what actually helps — and what doesn’t.
Because the next version of Upbeater shouldn’t just be based on what makes sense to us.
It should be shaped by how people actually want to work with AI.
If that sounds like something you want to be part of, apply to become one of The Founding 15.
Applications are open until November 15. Email clara@upbeater.com and tell us a little about your business and what you’d like Maggie or Sara to help you with.
